Born in Q3-1913 [Newmarket 3b:859], daughter of Charles and Jennie WAUGH (née EDWARDS) of Carlburg, Bury Road, Newmarket. She married Alexander Ralph BAXTER in Calder, Yorkshire in the 3rd quarter of 1940. Alexander was an Army corporal, serving overseas when Phyllis died.

In the 1939 register Phyllis, still single, was with her parents at Carlburg House, Bury Road, Newmarket. Father, Charles [3-1-1870] was a racehorse trainer; mother Jane [14-8-1871] and sister Janet May[1-5-1908], an auxiliary nurse. Apart from staff, there are 3 closed records.


Phyllis was serving with C Company in the ATS at Basing House, Bridge Street, Cambridge and at some time worked at Bletchley Park. She died of a brain tumour in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge






Phyllis is buried in Newmarket Cemetery- Ref: I.729
